Quarteira is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Loulé, with 38.16 km ² and 21,798 inhabitants (2011). Density: 571.2 / km².
The Civil Parish of Quarteira, currently parish, was created in 1916 through the Algarve deputy Dr. José Maria de Padua, who presented the project in 1914 in the National Assembly. Years later it was elevated to town on 28 June 19844 and the city on May 13, 1999, through Law No. 52/99 of 24 June.
It has 2 km of blue flag beach. It became popular holiday destination from 60 years, mainly due to its extensive beach and unique climate. Later comes Vilamoura, which is considered as a tourist destination with great potential for golf lovers and water sports such as jet skiing, sailing, windsurfing, diving and fishing.
When it comes to gastronomy, are exalted in Quarteira restaurants, which make known the freshest fish and seafood throughout the region.
Among the tourist attractions is the Aquashow, water park that has existed for over two decades and is located right at the entrance of Quarteira, near the EN 396.
